Why is Concentrate Better When Making Homemade Wine? | Moon ...

Firstly, getting started with a batch of wine using concentrate is very quick and easy; everything associated with getting the actual juice has been done for you. Wine Cellars Illinois consider that it’s just a matter of siphoning the wine off the sediment as directed (called: racking) and then bottling the wine.  Secondly, when making wine from pure grape juice, much of the process is very similar to that of making wine from packaged juices. The hardest part that most people don’t realize is that it takes a lot of grapes to get enough juice to make wine. For example, most wine concentrates where made from around 70 to 100 pounds of wine grapes just to get enough juice to make about six gallons of wine. With either the concentrate or the fresh grapes, once the fermentation is complete and all that’s left is the fermented juice, you end up with approximately six gallons of wine.
