It’s Wednesday and you are already thinking about your weekend plans and perhaps which wines to purchase. Each Wednesday, I will post two recommendations for your weekend wine choices which are under $20.00 – one white and one red. This week, instead of a big red wine, I’m suggesting a rose – c’mon guys, it’s ok…! I recently enjoyed these two wines in Napa last week and both are perfect for some long weekend Spring sipping on the back porch with a good book or good friend!
**2010 Whitehall Lane Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley - Oh yes, I puchased a few bottles of this wonderful Sauvignon Blanc from Whitehall Lane Winery. Consisting of 91% Sauvignon Blanc and 9% Semillon grapes for added richness, the wine was very aromatic and flavorful with tastes of grapefruit, apple, and a bit of oak thanks to 30% of the grapes being fermented in French oak barrels for seven weeks. This wine has 13% alcohol and a price tag of $18.00. I can’t wait until the (big) box is delivered! Since the 2010 is a new release, you may consider ordering it from the winery or ask your local wine guy if they will carry it.
**2011 V. Sattui Gamay Rouge - V. Sattui Winery in St. Helena, California is one of those wineries which has fantastic wines…but you have to order them if you are out of the area. This particular wine was delicious at the tasting table-strawberry and cherry aromas, high acid balanced by a a touch of sweetness on the palate, and more refreshing flavors of ripe berries and a satisfying finish. The Gamay Rouge has 12% alcohol and should be enjoyed while young (the wine, not you-ha!). This is one of V. Sattui’s most popular wines and I can see why. Cost is $19.25 and I purchased plenty…come on over!!
Cheers! ~ Cindy
