Tastes: City Wine and Grapes Wine Market | Happy Hour Mary

I get The Juice. They email me several times a week to tell me about wine events in Denver.
Here’s an example!

So we decided to try out a couple of wine stores that had free tastings. Since David wanted to fish around Downtown, we started at City Wine. (347 So. Colorado, http://www.citywine.com/ )

We have stayed in a hotel right around this store many times and never knew it was here. What a cute place. They had the most amazing selection of wine, labels I have NEVER seen.

While there, we tasted a wine by Boz Scaggs. It was fabulous, a blend of Mourvedre, Grenache, Syrah and Counoise (never heard of that grape). We bought a bottle because it was excellent!

Then we headed to Grapes Wine Market (6853 S. York Street in Centennial, CO. http://www.grapeswinemarket.com/home.html )

This store is so creatively set up. They have signs that say: Crisp or Bold or Rich and they shelve the wines that fit that description under that sign. This is SO HELPFUL if you are looking for a wine to go with a certain food or even just a certain mood. David and I discussed moving to a loft right there so that we could just walk down to this store at will!

We tasted a Prosseco, a Montmelian from Domaine Jean Vullian (dry white), and a Pinot Noir. How fun! We left with a Sauvignon Blanc.

David can fish every Saturday in Denver if we end the day this way!!
